What is a Defensive Driving Program?
A Court diversion and educational program which presents traffic safety classes through court certified school.
There are numerous benefits of our Defensive Driving course, including:
- Renew awareness of roadway safety.
- Update or refresh knowledge, skills and techniques on defensive driving.
- Reduce risk of vehicle collision and personal injury.
- Dismissal of traffic ticket.
- Avoid insurance increases.
- Fulfill a court order.
Who should take this course?
Everyone! Most people take the course to dismiss a ticket. In Arizona, you are eligible to take the course for a ticket dismissal once every year from violation date to violation date.
If you received multiple violations on one ticket, only one moving violation can be dismissed. You are responsible for the remaining violations.
You can also take the course just to enhance your defensive driving skills and roadway knowledge.
Participants learn how to recognize both potential and immediate hazards, how to avoid collisions in a variety of driving conditions and how to choose safe and legal driving behaviors.
The course covers a variety of topics to include:
- Driving Defensively in our roadway community
- Distracted and Impaired Driving
- Conditions in our roadway community
- Fatal four driving behaviors
Our curriculum is comprised of course components carefully aligned to promote the best possible instruction and provide a good mix of technologies and interactions that result in a comprehensive and constructive learning experience. In a creative blending approach to training our curriculum combines traditional training methods with technology to achieve learning and safety objectives.
Length of Course
Classes are required to be a minimum of 4 hours and not longer than 4 and ½ hours. The time for class registration and breaks do not count towards the minimum or maximum time.
